Bernardo Aguiar and Gabriel Policarpo expand their Brazilian percussion duo into a six-piece battalion on this jazz-inflected album shepherded by Snarky Puppy saxophonist Chris Bullock. The pair's snappy pandeiro and deep repique drums step forward on "Tico Tico no Almeida" before the entire ensemble emerges on "Portal." Afro-Brazilian percussion meets heady post-bop jazz when two saxophones join the sextet on "Philly Bumbá" and then switch to flutes for the mysterious "Sou Sim" (Yes I Am).
