About Us
Founded in Napoli by Serafino Perugino, as a business specialized in Melodic Rock indie labels in February 1996, Frontiers soon developed as one of the cutting edge indie label companies in Melodic and Hard Rock Music. After a developing a partnership - which lasted the few initial years with the British production company Now & Then (who brought bands and artists like TEN, HAREM SCAREM, CROWN OF THORNS, JORN and several others into the label’s roster) - along with a careful and aggressive A&R policy, Frontiers has soon become synonymous with quality Classic and Melodic Hard Rock, Progressive and Metal music in the international markets.
Achieving this from the headquarters in Napoli, was not an easy task, but the well-oiled and highly ambitious team, managed in a few years to release new albums from some of Rock true giants. The list includes: DEF LEPPARD, TOTO, WHITESNAKE, YES, JOURNEY, ALAN PARSONS, MICHAEL BOLTON, SURVIVOR, SEBASTIAN BACH, STYX, ASIA, JEFF LYNNE and ELO, HEART, BLACKMORE’S NIGHT, GLENN HUGHES, Y&T, FOREIGNER, EXTREME, SAMMY HAGAR, WINGER, URIAH HEEP, DANGER DANGER, RICK SPRINGFIELD, HOUSE OF LORDS, REO SPEEDWAGON, STRYPER, MR BIG, TED NUGENT, NIGHT RANGER, PRIMAL FEAR, NELSON, WARRANT, GREAT WHITE, DENNIS DEYOUNG and many more!
Besides that, Frontiers also set up during this time many exciting new projects and bands to release of Rock's finest voices, or give some still established artists the chance to show a new side of their musical personality! Shining examples are REVOLUTION SAINTS (featuring Deen Castronovo ex-Journey, Doug Aldrich ex-Whitesnake and Jack Blades of Night Ranger), RATED X (feat. Joe Lynn Turner, Carmine Appice, Tony Franklin and Karl Cochran), W.E.T (with Jeff Scott Soto and members of Eclipse and Work of Art), THE DARK ELEMENT (featuring ex-Nightwish singer Anette Olzon and ex-Sonata Arctica guitarist Jani Liimatainen) not forgetting the evolution of KANSAS' Billy Greer and his SEVENTH KEY release, from a studio project to a real live band and the stunning PRIDE OF LIONS, featuring former SURVIVOR main songwriter Jim Peterik and vocal star Toby Hitchcock.
And of course a ton of exciting new talent launched during the years (from ECLIPSE to ONE DESIRE and INGLORIOUS, to CRAZY LIXX, LORDS OF BLACK, WORK OF ART and of course several others) which is now where the A&R focus of the label is.
Frontiers Records' foreword has always been to dream together with the thousands of people that love quality Rock music. Achieving this means constant hard work from a well-oiled and highly ambitious team at the Frontiers Records headquarters in Napoli, Italy.
Editorial Reviews
Exhibits is Work Of Art's fourth album. It encompasses all that Work of Art have managed to create until now, offering another batch of unforgettable songs with soaring melodies and amazing instrumental prowess. Overall this is Work of Arts most up-tempo and straight ahead album thus far. For melodic rock, AOR aficionados, legendary keyboard player Vince DiCola (the author of the immortal Training Montage piece on the Roxy IV soundtrack) is a special guest on keyboards on This Isnt Love.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2019If you've liked the first three WOA albums, no doubt you'll like this one too. Their first three are so good that it's hard to say that this one is any "better". But saying that it is equally as good is pretty much saying that it's another truly excellent album. They've brought in some outside writers to help out - Jim Peterik and Jeff Scott Soto are among them. And they have a revolving cast of keyboardists, including Vince DiCola. But don't let any of that scare you. This still sounds like the same band. Lars Säfsund is a vocal god, Robert Säll is a master of melodic guitar solos, and Herman Furmin provides the right sound and style on drums. All eleven songs on here are top-notch, with the finale "Let Me Dream" being an instant classic. If you enjoyed the first three, as well as the three Lionville albums (where Säfsund provides most of the vocals), you're gonna love this one too.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2020I don't write many reviews, so I will be brief. This is an awesome album! I like all of the material from Work of Art and Lionsville, but this is one of probably the best of them all. I own all of the WOA and Lionsville CDs and listen to them very frequently. Really solid songwriting from beginning to end. I LOVE every song on here, except one (Scars to Prove it is the weakest song, IMO). But any album that has 10 AWESOME songs and 1 mediocre song is a HUGE success. Great guitar work, great lyrics, and awesome vocals from Lars Säfsund. Well done guys!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2019I wish I could give this a 5-star review, but there were just a few things which prevented it. First, the pros: The music is great--well-written, interesting chord progressions and song structure, great vocals and harmonies, thought-provoking and emotive lyrics, and incredible guitar solos. These guys are great songwriters and demonstrate a lot of talent. The cons: OK, I admit it; I'm a prude. I love rock-n-roll and have been a musician all my life, but one thing I dislike is profanity in songs. It's unnecessary, and I find it annoying and slightly offensive. No one is going to not recommend an album because it doesn't contain swearing, but there are a number of people I know to whom I can't in good conscience recommend this album because I know they would be bothered by the couple of instances of foul language. That being said, there's only one song on the album that contains said expletives, and that's track 9, Scars to Prove it. For the majority of folks that probably won't make a bit of difference, but as I said, I'm a prude. Another minor frustration with the album is the vocals and guitar solos aren't quite out-in-front enough in the mix, in my opinion. As I mentioned, the vocals and guitar solos are excellent and quite impressive, I just wish I could hear them more clearly. And that leads me to my final issue with the album, and this is the most frustrating. It almost sounds as if the album was mixed through a 1960s Sure Vocal Master PA turned up to 11. When I listen to the CD, instead of hearing the open, crystal-clear digital sound I expected, I detect what sounds like 5% THD (total harmonic distortion). This is especially true of the cymbals, which sound especially distorted. The cymbal ring also diminishes far too quickly and sounds processed. To be fair, I'm getting older and definitely losing my upper hearing range, so that has something to do with the lack of clarity I experienced. In fact, just to be fair I put a vinyl record on my old Dual turntable for comparison, and what I remember as being a great sounding album didn't have the high-end my memory told me I would hear. Ah, the trouble with aging... Still, the sound of Exhibits seems to include a lot of distortion. Maybe that's the way the engineer designed it. Maybe he or she wanted the album to sound as if the listener was playing it full-blast even when the volume was turned way down. I don't know, but I wish the sound were cleaner and more precise. That being said, I think the quality of the music and musicians makes this an album which is definitely worth buying, as long as your are prepared for the few, minor irritations I've just mentioned. I wish the band all success in the future.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2019Swedish melodic rock masters Work Of Art return with their highly anticipated fourth album full of all the things you love about this great band who have cemented themselves as one of the most exciting in the genre. Produced by Robert Säll, Exhibits sounds big and clear with a modern melodic rock precision that this band has become known for plus an emphasis on lots of keyboard textures and backing vocals that lift these songs above the competition. The band remains unchanged with Lars Säfsund on vocals, Robert Säll on guitars, and Herman Furin on drums but this time they add in some special guests including Shem von Schroeck on bass and Vince DiCola on keys. Overall there's nothing that deviates from what you have heard before from these guys but they just do it all so well that it really is a satisfying listen from start to end and those vocals just ooze class at all times. Highlights include the thumping opener "Misguided Love" that has everything a fan of this band could hope for in one song, the uplifting melodies of "Be The Believer" which has tonnes of classic keyboard parts that all builds into a singalong chorus and a Toto-like bridge section, the beautifully paced groove of "Another Night" complete with atmospheric synths and a blistering solo, the epic instrumental section of "This Isn't Love" where Vince DiCola really unleashes some signature key parts, the upbeat feeling of "Destined To Survive" which has another magical chorus, the wah based guitar hook of "Scars To Prove It", and the classy elements of "Let Me Dream" which closes the album out in pure Westcoast style. The Japanese edition includes the acoustic version of "Scars To Prove It" with a new feel that lets the vocals shine through differently. Whilst it isn't their best album so far, Exhibits is still essential listening for fans of this excellent band who always produce the goods and definitely ranks highly in a great year for new releases.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Classy Pop/Rock we've come to expect from Work of Art
Work of Art's 4th offering maintains the standard they've set for melodic rock. Their trademark brilliant vocals, tasty guitar solos and strong hooks and catchy choruses are all here in abundance. "Exhibits" has 11 tracks lasting over 45 mins and is mostly upbeat pop/rock. They're still in Toto territory but the references are less obvious now though the "American" sound is reinforced by the inclusion of song lyrics by Survivor's Jim Peterik. Jeff Scott Soto also helped out lyrically.
The band are still a 3-piece with session bass players contributing so they would appear to be more a studio than a performing band. Their mastermind is guitarist/keyboard player, Robert Sall who has written practically all the music. There songs are very strong and like Lou Gramm with Mick Jones Foreigner Sall has the perfect vehicle for his musical creations in the person of Lars Safsund. Safsund has a great voice and large range and would probably make average songs sound great. He's one of my favourite vocalists.
The material sounds a little bit harder edged this time round but if you want a blues-rock bite you won't find it here. Lots of distorted and chorus guitar sounds a la Mutt Lange - era Def Leppard abound. Lars seems to be hitting even higher notes this time, and does most of the harmonies also. Some will find the Work of Art formula a little clinical and clean - all songs save the last fall between 3 and a half and 4 and a half mins duration - tailor made for radio airplay but if you like melody, upbeat guitar-driven rock/pop (and I do) you have to admire these Swedes.
"Another Night" is a class song that sounds not unlike Foreigner, with outstanding vocals. "Gotta Get Out" is a lighter tune that is very catchy. "Come Home" is darker. It's impossible to find a song that I don't like - and that's after only a couple of listens. Take a listen to "Misguided Love" (opener) and "Let Me Down" (closing track) and that gives you a good sample of what to expect. Very consistent songwriting and brilliant singing. Can't give it anything other than 5 stars !
